Cabane de la Goulandière

The place

Planned sleeping places: 10. A new stove (donated by a caver from Ardèche) as of January 2016. The door and windows close well (as of 30-06-2016 a pane is missing from the dormitory window), but the building is too large to be heated efficiently. Broom, spade without a handle, a saw. Two nice tables and 4 nice benches + 2 tables with benches outside (one above, one in front). Floor sleeping upstairs: comfortably 10 places. There is a double mattress and a single mattress (so 3 places on mattresses). 4 August 2025: The cabin is in very good condition - stove, benches, table, saw for cutting wood, water-collection tank (with water in it!). Sink with a supply tank, a box installed in the mezzanine for storing clean blankets safe from mice, and spare foam mattresses. A lovely view over the central Vercors, in particular of Saint-Julien-en-Vercors and Saint-Martin-en-Vercors from outside the shelter. * Mobile signal: very good (Orange), including inside the cabin. * By the Presles-Rencurel road (if open): park a little below the Col de Pré Lang, at the place called "la Siva". From there it's a 15-minute descent to the shelter via 4x4 tracks. The GR trail also passes nearby. Allow a bit more than 1 h from the Serre du Sartre. The shelter is located in a hamlet of 4-5 ruined houses: this is reportedly one of the earliest settlement sites of the Coulmes (late Middle Ages). From La Balme-de-Rencurel, keep following the yellow-and-green waymarking. This small path leads to the foot of a cliff where there is a spring and numerous climbing routes. Vercors Park.
