The place
Unstaffed hut set at 910 m in the Jura massif (Jura department), in the Franche-Comté foothills. Located in a mid-altitude zone typical of the central Jura: beech-fir forests, hedgerow meadows, trails linking Franche-Comté villages. A basic, freely accessible building, equipment to be confirmed locally. A forested setting typical of the Jura plateaus: mixed forests, karst dolines, springs and seasonal streams ("emergences" characteristic of the Jura karst). Emblematic Jura wildlife: roe deer, wild boar, Jura chamois, Eurasian lynx (reintroduced), capercaillie in quiet zones. A stop on the trails of the Haut-Jura Regional Nature Park or neighbouring massifs, alongside the major Nordic routes (GR 5, GTJ — Grande Traversée du Jura). A rustic stop popular with hikers doing loops in the central Jura area.
