Cabane de la Dent Blanche (Rossier)

The place

Staffed CAS hut at 3507 m on the south ridge of the Dent Blanche (Val d'Hérens, Valais, Switzerland) — the highest staffed CAS hut in Switzerland. Also known as Cabane Rossier. Capacity 35 people. Energy self-sufficient; water self-sufficient thanks to melting snow. Approach from Ferpècle with a large elevation gain and a nearly direct, steep climb: exposed sections, a stretch of ridge with some easy climbing, and towards the end a glaciated area that may require crampons depending on conditions. Magnificent views over the glacial landscape as far as the Dent d'Hérens and the Bouquetins.
