The place

Pastoral sheepfold (unstaffed hut) set at 2190 m in the upper Ubaye valley (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence), on the eastern edge of the Parpaillon massif and bordering the Queyras. Located on the trails leading to Col de Longet (Franco-Italian border) and the Cabane du Col left-bank sector (2518 m). A summer-pasture building that may be occupied by shepherds during the grazing season — public use in agreement with local pastoral practice. Exceptional mineral and pastoral setting of the high Ubaye valleys: larches, subalpine meadows, panorama over the Aiguilles de Chambeyron massif and the Italian border (Cottian Alps). Emblematic wildlife: chamois, marmot, golden eagle, bearded vulture, griffon vulture. A popular stopover for hikers looping through the Ubaye-Queyras sector (notably alpinist trips of the GEMSA club), high-altitude bivouacking possible in the immediate surroundings. To be used with respect for active pastoral farming.

Opening
Bergerie ouverte (abri par mauvais temps).
