Cabane de la Balmeta

The place

Unstaffed cabin at 2100 m at the junction of the GR de Pays du Tour du Capcir and the trail to Rocatells and the Lac de Valserra (Pyrénées-Orientales, Capcir). Also known as Refuge de la Balmette. Renovated in 2024 by the local authority and maintained by the association "Tous à Poêle". Two rooms: the first with a wood stove, table, benches, dishes for 10, and a 3-place low bunk; the second with two 3-place low bunks (total capacity 8). The stove heats the room from 3°C to 20°C overnight, with a hotplate on top for heating water. A few basic mattresses and blankets. Balmeta spring nearby, as well as a pastoral cabin. Access in 1h15 from the Font Grosse car park.
