The place

Nice, recent wooden shelter at 215 m, on the red rectangle trail running along the Chefna stream between Quarreux and the fagne de Stoumont, municipality of Aywaille (province of Liège, Belgium). Built on the site of a former cabin. A table, benches and a beautiful fireplace for grilling, plus an outdoor barbecue. Municipal cabin open to hikers for a stop only: overnight stays are strictly prohibited, frequent checks. The name refers to the panning for gold nuggets practiced in this small valley in pre-Roman times and then from the 19th to the early 20th century.
