Cabane de l'Ecuelle

The place

Hut at 2180 m between the Vars ski resort and the Col de Vars (Queyras, Hautes-Alpes). Superb panorama to the south and the Ubaye valley. Fitted with a kind of window letting in daylight. Likely occupied in summer by a shepherd. No mattresses or blankets. Very little firewood nearby apart from a few thickets: to be used sparingly. As of a late December 2025 visit: open and in generally good condition; caution when sleeping on the boards of the storage chest, they can shift and cause a fall inside.
