Cabane de Denladel
The place
Unstaffed pastoral hut set at 1,500 m in the Haute-Ariège (central Pyrenean massif of the Ariège), part of the network of communal summer huts maintained by the Fédération Pastorale de l'Ariège and the Pyrénées Ariégeoises Regional Nature Park. The Ariège department retains a rich network of pastoral huts built of local timber, supported by a "local timber pastoral huts" programme of the Pyrénées Ariégeoises Regional Nature Park for construction and renovation respectful of this heritage. Located in the area of the high Ariège pastures, a summer base for transhumant shepherds. A basic building with minimalist equipment typical of communal huts: bunk, fireplace or stove, table and benches. Mineral and forested setting of the high Ariège vales: beech forests, subalpine grasslands, emblematic wildlife of the chamois, the marmot (reintroduced in 1948), the bearded vulture and the Pyrenean brown bear. A possible stage on the GR 10 and the Ariège summer-pasture trails.
