Cabane de Cyprien
The place
Historic dry-stone hut set at 1145 m in the commune of Montbrun-les-Bains (Drôme provençale), accessible from Ferrassières via the Col de l'Homme Mort. A heritage building studied by ethnographers of vernacular architecture (Christian Lassure), showcasing dry-stone Provençal-Drôme architecture — a corbelled-vault construction typical of southeastern France. Notable position on the margins of the Ventoux foothills and the Baronnies provençales, a landscape of lavender, downy oaks and highland scrubland. Access route from Ferrassières: about 15.7 km, +647 m of elevation gain, a family-friendly hiking route through an exceptional landscape. Mediterranean-alpine setting: white oak groves, pine forests, dry orchid meadows, home to Short-toed Snake Eagle, Peregrine Falcon and bat species. A historic and heritage stopover more than a shelter — used to discover rural built heritage.
