The place
Hut at 1880 m in the Couserans (Ariège, Pyrenees). Simple shelter in two sections, with a sleeping platform for 2 people in the open section. Since summer 2024, occupied by shepherds during the grazing season and now reserved for shepherds in both sections — not available to hikers during the pastoral season. Access from Salau via the Anglade mine track through the chemin des Cougnets, or by car to the mine car park, then crossing the Col de Cruzous and descending the east side to the hut on the left in the valley; from Bidous/Ossése via the long Port de Marterat track then a yellow-marked path.
