Cabane de Combemare
The place
Unstaffed wooden hut set at 750 m in the commune of Laval-d'Aix (Drôme), east of the hamlet of Combemare (500 m as the crow flies), on the trail climbing toward the Col d'Ayaste. Located in the Diois — a mid-mountain limestone sector between the southern Vercors and the Provençal Préalpes. Basic building, free access, minimal facilities. Forest and pastoral setting typical of the Diois: downy oak groves, high-altitude beech-fir forests, dry Mediterranean grasslands, landscapes typical of the Vercors Regional Nature Park and the foothills of the Glandasse. Emblematic wildlife: roe deer, chamois (reintroduced population), golden eagle, griffon vulture, peregrine falcon. A stopover on trails linking Laval-d'Aix to the Col d'Ayaste and the ridges of the Glandasse — one of the finest wild sectors of the southern Vercors.
