Cabane de Carrette

The place

A small unstaffed cabin in a clearing in the Vercors Regional Nature Park, managed by the park. Renovated in 1997, it has a mezzanine sleeping platform for 5 people (steep stairs with no handrail), a large table with attached benches, a broom and a shovel. Thick walls and a double panelled roof; windows and the upper door leaf are made of plexiglass. The nearby Fontaine de Carrette is a seasonal spring, the last water point before the southern high plateaus. Dead wood is easy to find at the edge of the clearing — do not strip the surrounding area. Access: 1h30 from the Corrençon cross-country ski centre, following the GR (45th Parallel waymarking then Porte Barnier), or from the Auberge de Roybon via the Pas de l'Âne.
