Cabane de Bellefont

The place

A pastoral cabin located in the Hauts de Chartreuse National Nature Reserve, in the municipality of Saint-Pierre-de-Chartreuse, at 1639 m. Rebuilt in 2014 and managed by the ONF (French national forestry office), it is now reserved for the exclusive use of the shepherd and closed to the public otherwise. No indoor shelter possible. A few tent spots (2 or 3 maximum) tolerated nearby outside the summer grazing period. The nearby captured spring remains accessible. Nature reserve rules: dogs, fires, camping, picking and litter are prohibited.
