The place
A basic cabin at 30 m in the province of Gipuzkoa (Spanish Basque Country, Euskadi), right next to the French-Spanish border and the Cantabrian coast. A remarkable position at the heart of the Atlantic Basque Country, a landscape of green hills typical of the Basque coast (Costa Vasca). A building of pastoral or artisanal origin whose construction may not have been authorized, according to visitor feedback — its use and legal status are unclear. An exceptional Basque coastal setting: wet meadows, lowland Atlantic beech woods, orchards, cultural landscapes emblematic of Basque livestock farming (Pyrenean cattle, Manex sheep). Coastal wildlife: many migratory birds (passage between the Atlantic and the Pyrenees), herring gull, black kite. Located just off the trails of the GR 12 (Basque Trail), which runs through the heights and valleys of Gipuzkoa.
