Cabane d'Orny: A Mountain Refuge at the Foot of the Mont-Blanc Massif The Cabane d'Orny, nestled in the majestic Mont-Blanc massif, is an ideal mountain refuge for mountaineering and outdoor excursions. Location and Access Altitude: 2,828 metres. Position: On the sunny side of the Aiguilles d'Arpette, in the canton of Valais, Switzerland. Access: Accessible in 2 h 30 walk from the upper station of La Breya, via a trail reached from Champex Lac. History and Development of the Refuge History: The first stone hut with 10 places was built in 1876, followed by a wooden hut with 35 places in 1893. The current hut was erected in 1975 and enlarged in 1985. Relocation: The 1893 hut was dismantled in 1979 and rebuilt in 1983 in the Dent de Vaulion massif, in the Vaud Jura. Excursions and Activities Routes: From the refuge you can reach the Portalet, the Aiguilles Dorées, the Pointe des Ecandies, the Aiguille du Tour, the Aiguille d'Orny, the Col des Plines, and the Cabane du Trient.
