Cabane d'Orgambide

The place

Small metal-frame summer-pasture structure at 968 m below the Col d'Orgambidé on the French side (Basque Country, Pyrénées-Atlantiques), accessible by vehicle. Basic but functional when open: a chair, a mini-table, two sleeping platforms and floor space. Water at a nearby trough (needs treating). Hazard: very low cross-beams inside. Closed during the good season as soon as the sheep go up to pasture, to prevent vandalism. According to recent reports, it may be padlocked year-round.
