The place
Private buron maintained by the Calmejane family and left open to respectful hikers, at 1,340 m altitude in the Monts du Cantal. Capacity of 8 people. Typical Cantal style: working fireplace on the ground floor, fixed table and benches; upstairs, 2 double mattresses and 1 single with a blanket. Firewood available nearby, outdoor fire pit. Spring about 400 m below (filter due to the presence of livestock). Access from Thiezac and Lafon, climbing to the Buron de la Tuillère, then along the ridge trail toward the Plomb du Cantal and turning south — the buron sits just below the main trail. Getting there
Accès depuis Thiezac et Lafon : montée jusqu'au buron de La Tuillère, puis prendre le chemin des crêtes en direction du Plomb du Cantal ; bifurquer sur le chemin vers le sud, le buron est juste là.
The setting
Buron situé à 1340 m d'altitude, dans les Monts du Cantal (Massif Central), au sein du Parc naturel régional des Volcans d'Auvergne — un environnement volcanique préservé. À la sortie du buron, en suivant la courbe de niveau vers la gauche jusqu'à une muraille avec barbelés, une source d'eau émerge un peu plus bas ; une seconde source existe également près du GR à proximité. Le site se trouve en zone de pâturage.
