Basic 6-bunk DOC hut at 726 m in Tararua Forest Park (Wellington/Kapiti, NZ). Free. Vehicle access via SH57 at Shannon, signposted towards Mangaore Power Village (~5 km), then past the Mangahao Hydro Electric Power station. Winding metal road to the Mangahao Dam No. 2 trailhead. 3-4 hour walk to the hut; then 3-4 hours to Mangahao Dam No. 1.
