A historic Snowy Mountains pastoral hut (Broken Dam, a historic place name referring to a broken stock barrier from the 1900s; Kosciuszko NP, 6900 km², established 1944; Mount Kosciuszko, 2228 m, Australia's highest peak, named after Polish explorer Strzelecki in 1840; the Snowy Hydro Scheme, 1949-1974, 16 dams and 145 km of tunnels, the largest such scheme in the Southern Hemisphere; Perisher Blue, Australia's largest ski resort); part of the heritage of the Ngarigo people (Aboriginal people of the Southern Highlands, speaking the Ngarigu language, Alpine Country) and of the bogong moth (Agrotis infusa), which migrates from November to February in numbers estimated at 5,000 million over 2000 km from Queensland to the Alps, and whose population collapsed by 99.5% in the 2019 climate-driven crash.
