The place
Privately-run staffed refuge at 2,113 m in the Valais Alps, in the Simplon area. A stage on the Simplon pass crossing and a junction toward Berisal, Rosswald, Binntal and the Alpe Veglia on the Italian side. Managed by Waldemar Schön, it welcomes hikers and nature lovers in a setting of alpine meadows and high-altitude flora. Open from 21 June to 30 September, it offers half-board based on regional produce.

Getting there
Main access from Berisal in about 90 minutes, 600 m elevation gain. Other starting points possible from Rosswald, Simplon, Binntal and the Alpe Veglia (Italy).
