Борисовы печи (Borisov's Kilns) in the Republic of Bashkortostan, Beloretsk/Uzian area (South Urals, Russia), at 439 m elevation, Iremel range. Continuous South Urals Russia cluster (batches 260-335). A former loggers' or charcoal-burners' cabin ("Borisov" is a common Russian surname; "peči" means charcoal-metallurgy kilns dating from the 19th-century Ural metallurgical basin founded by the Demidov merchant family in the 1720s), in an area of southern Ural taiga (Picea obovata + Abies sibirica + Betula pendula + Populus tremula) and near Iremel, 1,582 m (Bashkortostan's 2nd-highest peak, sacred to the Bashkirs), part of the heritage of the Bashkirs (a Turkic-Ural people, 1.7 million, Bashkir-speaking, with a kumis-drinking tradition, semi-Turkic peoples now settled after formerly being nomadic).
