The place

An octagonal wooden bivouac located at 3089 m above the Valle Varaita, in the Cottian Alps. Inaugurated in 1992 and dedicated to Franco Boerio, a Piedmontese climber and mountain rescuer, it offers 10 places, open access. Its octagonal shape allows it to withstand the fierce winds of high altitude. A base for climbing the Monte Maniglia and the surrounding peaks.
