Blue Bird: An Iconic Single by Ayumi Hamasaki The single Blue Bird is Ayumi Hamasaki's 40th original single, released on the Avex Trax label. It went on sale on 21 June 2006 in Japan and was produced by Max Matsuura. It reached number one on the Oricon chart, with 160,572 copies sold in the first week. In total, 258,566 copies were sold over a 12-week period. Content and Format Blue Bird contains two previously unreleased songs, along with their instrumental versions. The single also features a remixed version of the title track, as well as another version of the song Ladies Night, taken from the previous album (Miss)understood. These songs would be included on the album Secret, released five months later. Recognition and Awards Blue Bird was used as the campaign music for the Zespri Gold Kiwifruit product. The songs Beautiful Fighters and the alternate version of Ladies Night were also chosen as themes for Panasonic brand advertising campaigns.
