The place

A former dam-keeper's house converted into an unstaffed cabin, located at 245 m in Strømsåsen near Blekktjern, close to the centre of Drammen. Managed by DNT Drammen og Omegn. Very popular with schools and kindergartens as a local nature base. Eight bunks: one bunk bed and two family bunk beds in alcoves. Equipped kitchen (stove, fridge, coffee maker), two communal areas with wood-burning stoves. Outdoor toilets (locked outside the season). Outdoor water pump out of service until 1 December 2025. No vehicle access. Dogs explicitly prohibited. Bring sheets or a sleeping bag liner. Locked with the standard DNT lock, full-cabin rental by booking: check-in 2pm, check-out 1pm. Nearby activities: Strømsåsrunden (a marked 15 km loop), the Risdalstårnet observation tower, the Haukåsutsikten viewpoint, the monument marking Drammen's geographic centre.
