The place
Self-catering hut of the DAV Oberland section set at 1214 m on a forest clearing in the basin between the Wallberg, the Setzberg and the Risserkogel (Mangfallgebirge, Bavarian Prealps, Tegernsee area). The new Blankensteinhütte impresses with its sustainable, self-sufficient construction, combining regional materials with modern techniques and traditional architecture. Capacity of 16 beds — one of the largest self-catering huts of the Oberland section. Electric lighting via photovoltaic panels, but between December and mid-January insufficient sunshine means no electricity is available. The nearby Blankenstein (Tegernsee) is one of the best alpine and sport climbing sites in the Bavarian Prealps. A location offering many options for hiking, climbing, skiing and snowshoeing in winter. Typical Prealps forest setting: spruce, beech, DAV trails linking the Wallberg, Setzberg and Risserkogel.
