Black Hill Hut

The place

Standard 6-bunk DOC hut in the Oxford Forest Conservation Area (North Canterbury, Arthur's Pass sector), at 1,196 m. Access from Lees Valley Road in 5 h 30 via the Townshend and Black Hill tracks, or from Lower Salmon Creek Bivvy in 2 h. No booking required, payment by hut tickets (blue adult, yellow youth) or Backcountry Hut Pass (NZ$10/5 until 30 June 2026).
