Bivouac Sberna

The place

The final evacuation of the bivouac's "carcass" did not go smoothly! It took a large (spectacular) reinforcement crew to shift it — the bivouac did not want to leave!! The "moving" video of the retirement of the bivacco Sberna! Let's hope we find this historic bivouac again, after a lick of paint (canary yellow!), in one of the other beautiful valleys of the Aosta Valley! This bivouac stood at the Col Est du Grand Neyron. It had been closed since 9 July 2019 (see the CAI notice below), following major glacial retreat around the col, which left the col where the bivouac stood prone to instability. Italian Alpine Club. Florence section. For the record: this bivouac NO LONGER EXISTS! The bivouac and all its contents were airlifted down into the valley (not in a single trip!) on 23 September 2022 after nightfall — the bivacco Sberna was no more! The bivacco Sberna! A story!! An era!!! (over now?)
