Bivouac Piero Vacca
The place
Bivouac shelter at 2670 m in the Vallone di Bard – Monte Giusalet, near Lanslebourg on the Italian side (Val Cenis, Piedmont). Capacity of 15 people, always open. Access via the SS25 from Susa to Bar Cenisio, then a drivable road to Grange Arpone (1835 m), then a marked trail passing the Lac d'Arpone dam — about 2h30 walk for 835 m of elevation gain, difficulty level E. Since 14 March 2026, the CAI Susa section no longer manages it and disclaims any responsibility for its condition or use.
Getting there
Départ des Grange Arpone (1835 m) : montée de 2h30 pour un dénivelé de 835 m jusqu'au bivouac (2670 m). Difficulté : E (randonneur expérimenté). Itinéraire d'approche : depuis Susa, suivre la SS.25 jusqu'à Bar Cenisio ; peu après les dernières maisons, tourner à gauche et suivre la route carrossable jusqu'aux Grange Arpone, puis le sentier balisé jusqu'au bivouac.
