The place

Historic bivouac site at 1760 m in the Swiss Val Ferret (Valais), by the Neuvaz glacier (the area was then called the Neuvaz valley). Before the hut was built, bivouacs were made under a large rock. The site is linked to the Cabane de l'A Neuve located higher up at 2734 m, planned as early as 1912 by the SAC, construction begun in 1926 and inaugurated in 1927 under the name Cabane Édouard Dufour, owned by the Diablerets section.
