The place
Bivacco Speleologico Davanzo-Picciola-Vianello (DPV) at 1930 m, near the Col delle Erbe, on the edge of the northern karst plateau of the Monte Canin, in the Julian Alps (Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy) — an area of major speleological interest. Designed for the logistical support of speleological exploration by the Commissione Grotte "E. Boegan". Heavily used as an operational base by caving groups exploring the massif's caves. 10 beds, always open. Access from Sella Nevea via the CAI 635 trail to the Rifugio Gilberti then to the base of the Bila Pec (1680 m); leave the main trail to follow a faint orange-marked track that passes below the north face of the Bila Pec and climbs the cirque under the NW face, crossing a few easy rocky steps.
