The place

Bivouac at 2600 m in the Ampezzo Dolomites, on the southern slopes of the Sorapiss group (province of Belluno, Italy). Dedicated to Giuliano and Scipio Secondo Slataper, two cousins from Trieste who fell on the Eastern Front during the Second World War and were awarded the Gold Medal of Military Valor. Owned by the CAI "XXX Ottobre" section of Trieste. Red metal box set on white stone slabs, wedged between the rocks of the Croda Marcora and the squared-off blocks descending from the Punta dei Ross. Access from Rifugio San Marco (trails 226 and 246, 3 hours), from Val d'Ansiei-Palus San Marco (226-247, 5h30), or from Val del Boite-Dogana Vecchia (241, 5h30 to 6h).
