Udine · Italie0 mUnguardedVerified listing

The place

Refuge at 2100 m on the Forca de la Viene, municipality of Chiusaforte (Udine, Friuli-Venezia Giulia), between Forca di Vandûl and Monte Cimone. Built by the Società Alpina Friulana, the current structure dates from 2008 — before that, the "barrel" bivouac built in 1971 stood first at Sella Grubia (Canin), then at the summit of Monte Cimone (2379 m). Dedicated to the memory of Count Sandro Del Torso (1883-1967), an Udine mountaineer and CAI academician who climbed with Tita Piaz, Emilio Comici, Celso Gilberti and Piero Mazzorana. A base in the western Julian Alps for routes on the Cimone, Vandûl and Montasio.
