The place
Bivouac at 1904 m on a grassy shoulder of the Rocca Pergo, municipality of Monterosso Grana (Cuneo, Piedmont), in the Val Grana area. A small metal high-altitude structure overlooked by the two peaks above it. Dedicated to Matteo Durbano, known as "Rosset" (Rousset), of Frise, who spent many years working a mine in search of gold — never finding any, but coming across a vein of iron and manganese. Rosset died accidentally in his mine on 12 June 1953. A stage on Leg 6 of the "Curnis Auta" route linking Bivacco Rousset to Rifugio Paraloup.
