The place

Free bivouac shelter at 926 m next to the Rifugio Villaneta in the Foreste Casentinesi National Park (Emilia-Romagna). Small structure always open, equipped with an economical wood-burning stove and a bench usable for sleeping: room for two people in sleeping bags, but you can't stretch out fully lying down. Volunteer-run by the Anime Casentinesi association (non-CAI). Serves as a year-round emergency shelter when the Rifugio Villaneta is closed. Official site relocated to rifugiovillaneta.it.
