Bivacco Pian del Lago
The place
Unstaffed bivouac located at 2320 m near Lago Pian del Lago, in the upper Val Grosina (Valtellina, province of Sondrio, Lombardy). Notable position in the Valle del Piansortivo, just below the Pian del Lago where the small lake of the same name lies. A stage on the Sentiero Italia route, section linking Malghera to Eita. Bivouac always open, capacity of 6 beds, blankets on site, outdoor water close by, working wood stove. Basic conditions typical of Valtellina CAI bivouacs. Located on the edge of the Stelvio Regional Park, a transition area between the Val Camonica (Adamello) and the Valtellina (Bernina). Classic access from Malghera or Eita via Sentiero Italia trails, about 3-4 hours' walk depending on the approach side. Mineral setting of the high Valtellina valleys, subalpine meadows, emblematic wildlife of chamois, marmot and golden eagle.
