Bivacco Molassa
The place
Bivouac hut at 700 m on the right bank of the Val Molassa, at the foot of the steep south face of Monte Resettum (Carnic Prealps, municipality of Barcis, province of Pordenone, Friuli-Venezia Giulia) — not Cadore as one might assume. Set out over two levels: upper level with "castle"-style bunk beds and mattresses for about 8 people; lower level with a table and bench, fireplace and cupboard. Originally a small masonry building for forestry purposes, converted into a fixed bivouac by young people from Barcis. A winding approach of about 5 km with several exposed sections fitted with cables; despite the modest altitude and limited elevation gain, the route demands attention. Views over the whole of the Val Molassa.
