The place
Bivouac at 2275 m at the head of the Valle delle Messi, in a basin framed by the Punta di Pietrarossa and the Punta di Valmalza (municipality of Pezzo, Ponte di Legno, Brescia, Lombardy). Three rooms: a central one with a long table and benches, a wood stove, a gas cooker and dish cabinets; the two side rooms offer 8 and 10 sleeping places respectively with mattresses and blankets (18 places in total). Water outside, no electricity. Access from Sant'Apollonia (Ponte di Legno), a proper parking area, then trail 58 into the Valle delle Messi — ~2h15 and 700 m of elevation gain.
