The place

Bivouac at 2047 m in the Ciadin Alto Est, municipality of Vigo di Cadore (Belluno, Veneto), within the Brentoni group of the Carnic Alps. Built in the early 1980s by the CAI section of Vigo di Cadore in collaboration with the A. Berti Foundation, on the site of the former "Baracca Perina" built by military engineers during the Great War to support the trench positions. Inaugurated on September 22, 1985, the bivouac is dedicated to Giovanni Spagnolli (1907-1984), senator, minister, president of the Senate, and CAI general president from 1971 to 1980. Built from 6x6 m concrete blocks, 5 m high, with a wood-and-metal floor and roof, two ground-floor rooms (kitchen and living area) and an attic with 11 sleeping places.
