Bivacco Emilio Marigonda
The place
CAI bivouac at 1823 m in the Val Bognanco (Ossola, Piedmont, Italy), above the village of Pizzanco. Inaugurated in 1998, dedicated to Emilio Marigonda, a historic former secretary of the section particularly attached to the Val Bognanco. Capacity 12 beds. Equipment: running water, mattresses and blankets, kitchenette, indoor bathroom, lighting, 220V outlet, wood stove. Always open and unguarded. Open season: 1 May to 31 October. Main access from Alpe Gomba in 2h30 (E difficulty rating).
Getting there
Depuis le hameau de Pizzanco (vallée de Bognanco, Val d'Ossola), compter environ 2h15 de marche pour un dénivelé d'environ 780 m, sur sentier bien tracé et jamais raide. L'itinéraire alterne forêt et zones dégagées, passe près des alpages de Gabi et Oriaccia, franchit un promontoire avec croix métallique (1855 m) puis les alpages de Vallaro avant d'atteindre le bivouac. Une variante existe depuis le parking de Gomba (1245 m), environ 2h30 pour 5,3 km et 648 m de dénivelé.
The setting
Le bivouac constitue le bâtiment central d'un ensemble de trois baites entourées d'une clôture, à l'Alpe Vallaro, dans une combe à l'ouest de la Croix du Vallaro. Le site offre des vues sur le fond de vallée ossolan et les sommets environnants (Cime Azoglio et Verosso).
