The place
High-altitude bivouac at 3170 m on the basal rocks of the south face of the Pizzo della Forcola Alta, just above the Passo Scerscen (3122 m), in the Bernina massif on the Italian side / Val Malenco (Sondrio, Lombardy). 4 beds, always open. Managed by the CAI Sezione Valtellinese di Sondrio. Approach from the Rifugio Longoni (2450 m) in 2 h 30 for 720 m of ascent — one of the finest routes in the Bernina massif, on solid rock with a few short snow sections. A stage for the ascent of the Disgrazia from the Bernina side or for the Scerscen traverses.
