Bivacco Capanna Mattia

Brescia · Italie0 mUnguardedVerified listing

The place

High-altitude bivouac at 2600 m on a spectacular rocky ridge between the Passo della Monoccola and Monte Monoccola, in the municipality of Ceto (Brescia, Lombardy). The site still holds the remains of the cableway that supplied Alpine troops at the Monoccola and Rossola passes during the Great War of 1915-18 — the Austro-Italian border ran just above. The route presents no particular technical difficulty from Case di Val Paghera, but a few route-finding stretches can catch you out between Passo Blumone and Monte Listino. No warden, free access year-round.
