The place
Bivouac at about 2036 m on the Alpe Cortenero above Ceppo Morelli (Verbano-Cusio-Ossola, Piedmont), in the Antigine group of the Valle Anzasca. One of the stone baite of this scenic alpine pasture was donated in 1981 by the Longa family to the CAI Macugnaga section, which maintains it together with the A.N.A. of Ceppo Morelli. Always open, equipped with a wood stove, gas kitchen, USB sockets and solar-powered lighting; eight sleeping places spread between the main baita and adjacent ones. Access from Mondelli with a steep climb to Alpe Colla (2001 m, ~2h15), then a traverse across the slope to Alpe Cortenero.
