The place
Bivouac at Alpe Quadra at 1604 m, in the province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola (Piedmont, Italy). A stop on a demanding 8.8 km hiking route with ~777 m of elevation gain, an estimated ~4 hours of walking. Roughly halfway along, the bivouac offers a place to rest and take in the surrounding scenery.
