Bivacco Alpe Pian di Boit in the Val Anzasca/Val d'Ossola, south side of the Monte Rosa massif (province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola, Piedmont, Italy), at 1122 m elevation, Macugnaga/Pestarena area. Unmanned free CAI Macugnaga bivouac, a former Walser alpine pasture converted into shelter. Larch, Swiss stone pine and birch zone, heritage of the Walser settlement of Pomatt/Ossola (12th-14th centuries).
