The place
Wild bivouac at 1890 m in the municipality of Roana, province of Vicenza (Veneto), in the Monte Meatta area on the Asiago plateau. Known locally as Roccolo di Portule. The term "Aia" historically referred to the flat area where "poiatte" were built — piles of wood covered with leaves and earth used for charcoal production — a toponym typical of the pre-Alpine plateaus. Today it serves as a rustic shelter for hiking routes towards the Bocchetta Portule and Monte Meatta. No warden, no booking.
