Bernhard-Fest-Hütte: A Historic Mountain Refuge in the Austrian Alps The Bernhard-Fest-Hütte is a category I mountain refuge of the Murau section of the Austrian Alpine Association, located at the summit of the Frauenalpe in the Nockberge. Historical Background Initially, a shelter was built at the summit of the Frauenalpe, which was used as an anti-aircraft shelter during World War I. This shelter was made available to the German and Austrian Alpine Association, then handed over to the Murtal section. In 1923, the hut was renovated and inaugurated by the Murtal section with support from the Wanderfreunde section. Access From Murau (829 m): via path 132 and long-distance trail 09.
