The place
The Bernadein-Hütte is a small German Alpine Club hut, located at 1,509-1,520 m altitude below the Alpspitze in the Wetterstein massif, near Garmisch-Partenkirchen (Bavaria). It is an ideal base for climbing routes, hiking and ski touring towards the Alpspitze. It has 7 sleeping places in the main room, with no winter room or emergency shelter. Access by Kreuzeckbahn cable car, or on skis from the Alpspitzbahn valley station via the Kandahar piste, the Kreuzeck and the Bernadeinweg, in about 2h15.
