Berglihütte
The place
Historic Swiss Alpine Club hut at 3,299 m on the Berglifelsen, at the western edge of the Eismeer (lower Grindelwald glacier), in the Bernese Oberland, run by the SAC Grindelwald section. Twenty bunk beds with wool blankets and pillows, silk liner recommended. Built in 1869, it is one of the earliest SAC huts, last rebuilt in 1903 and has kept its typical character ever since. No phone line. Exposed position requiring alpine equipment to reach the hut.
Getting there
Simplest route from the Jungfraujoch via the lower Mönchsjoch, about 2 h 30. Alpine equipment mandatory.
