Bergerie du Jardin du Roi
The place
Summer-grazing sheepfold set at 1733 m in the Réserve Naturelle des Hauts Plateaux du Vercors (commune of Treschenu-Creyers, Drôme), at the heart of the Archiane area. Building closed to the public since at least 1994 — property of the Drôme department, used exclusively by the shepherd in charge of the summer flock. No access for sleeping or shelter is possible. Notable position on the hiking routes toward the Croix du Lautaret (1951 m) via the Pas de la Coche and the Tussac area, stages of the Tour des Hauts Plateaux du Vercors. Exceptional setting of the Nature Reserve: subalpine grasslands, fir forests, ruins of the former Jasse du Jardin du Roi nearby. The RNHP applies strict regulations — dogs (even on leash), fires, camping, foraging, fossil collecting and dumping waste forbidden; paragliding takeoff forbidden (flying over above 300 m allowed); mountain biking only on the GTV variant. Visual stop only.
Getting there
