Bergerie du Clot d'Âne
The place
Stone shelter at 2,450 m next to a new sheepfold that is closed (reserved for the shepherd), in the Briançonnais/Vallouise area (Hautes-Alpes). Sometimes used for storage by the shepherd during the summer grazing period. No facilities or furniture: just a large wooden sleeping platform, 3 blankets and a foam mattress. Water from the fountain (turned off by shepherds outside the grazing season) or in the valley to the northeast. The cabin is occupied by the shepherd and their family/friends roughly from 1 August to 15 September — shepherds have priority. Outside this period, it serves as basic shelter for hikers.
